helpful tips:

1) A better (IMO) skin is attached. I modified an existing skin to be better (you will need to extract this into a skins folder that you create in the mumble directory and then navigate to it and select it in the User Interface sections in Configuration)

2) Configure --> Check the "Advanced" box in the lower left.

3) Configure --> Audio Input

Please use a push to talk key. (under transmit, choose Push to Talk)

4) Configure --> User Interface

I like 'Stacked'

in the right corner, check 'Users above Channels'.

5) Configure --> Overlay

You can change or turn off the overlay if you wish

I modified the one i had posted and re-uploaded to make it better. Here is the skin:

Modified the skin again with different icons for speaking/not speaking because Vash couldnt stand the original because it was harder to tell who was talking. Simple bubbles now.

Just incase you are like me and you have the PTT Audio Cue turned on, you can change it to the ventrillo one pretty easily (the Mumble one sound so weird after years of using vent).


Open up Mumble and go to Configure and click settings.

In the bottom left corner click the box next to Advanced and that will add more options under Audio Input.

Under that menu it will you will see PTT Audio cue. Clicking that box will give you the sounds for push to talk.

Go to Computer / My Computer >>> C Drive >>> Program Files >>> Ventrilo (if you installed Ventrilo on another drive or another location look for it there)

There you will see 2 files named MicKeyUp and MicKeyDown.

Under the PTT Audio cue box set the On and Off notifications to the corresponding files

Here are a couple options for the talking_off.svg. They grey icon was hard for me to differentiate users vs channels.

Unzip these 3 icons into ../Mumble/Skins/Temp2

rename which ever one you want to use to talking_off.svg and restart mumble. easy. (The ligher one, or lp icon, works the best for me)

I have included the original grey one incase you over write the original.
