    Computer Problem - Need help

Okay, so recently bought a processor fan for my brothers computer and it fixed the problem with the computer shutting down after 5 minutes. But now I have a new problem, where when I load the computer it states that "No drivers are detected" and proceeds to load windows 7, but I end up with a black screen after the windows loading screen. I let it stay on for over an hour to make sure my overheating problem was fixed, and it continued to stay on the black screen. Anyone have any suggestions of what I need to do?

video card? Do you have onboard graphics you can plug into to see if you get video?

Since you can see it in POST to see that message, it might be that windows doesnt know what driver to use once the Windows portion of the boot kicks in and you can no longer see whats going on. You can also try to remote into that computer and see what you can see (if you have remote desktop enabled).

Try reseating your video card , you probably bumped it lose when you replaced the cup cooler. If that doesn't work, the video card is probably fried - assuming you are using a video card...

Also if your mb has multiple pci slots, try moving the video card into a new slot.

Try reformating. Would reinstall any relevant drivers in the event one is corrupted.

I wouldn't reformat in till you exhausted all other means.

Why? I reformat all the time for shits and giggles. It's even easier if you make a custom install disk .iso.

If you need the data from the drive before reformatting, just pull it, slave it to another computer and get the shit off of it first.

Because we are dealing with a janky ass computer here. Not something like the two of us are running. Reformatting will be slow and painful and more than likely not necessary.
