This means that effective immediately SOE will operate as an independent game development studio where we will continue to focus on creating exceptional online games for players around the world, and now as a multi-platform gaming company. Yes, that means PlayStation and Xbox, mobile and more!

    As part of this transition, SOE will now become Daybreak Game Company. This name embodies who we are as an organization, and is a nod to the passion and dedication of our employees and players. It is also representative of our vision to approach each new day as an opportunity to move gaming forward.

    So what exactly does this mean for you? It will be business as usual and all SOE games will continue on their current path of development and operation. In fact, we expect to have even more resources available to us as a result of this acquisition. It also means new exciting developments for our existing IP and games as we can now fully embrace the multi-platform world we are living in.

    Our games and players are the heart and soul of our organization, and we are committed to maintaining our portfolio of online games and pushing the limits of where we can take online gaming together.

    Thank you for your continued support. See you in game!

    Well, I guess this explains the lack of announcements, and everything else for that matter, from SOE in the last few months.

    And shutting down all those games, and possibly the earlier full-F2P transition.

    Break out the credit cards, folks, here comes pay-to-win.

    The worst thing that ever happened to everquest was Sony buying out Verant. Lets hope things change for the good.

    @Defiant.

    I loved FFXI. Easily my second favorite MMO of all time. It was cross platform from PC,PS2, and Xbox. It's entirely possible that Everquest next could be just as good. I have my concerns, I'm just pointing out the fact it's not an end all be all.

    But with Windows 10, Xbox will be an application that allows you to download and play (on the PC) any Xbox game you've purchased.

    Sounds like Smed is a bit behind the ball on that one.

    According to their info or w/e from MS is that you can stream games from Xbox to PC via local WiFi. Still got to own the box for now.

    Maybe I'm wrong. Would love to be wrong.

    Either way, if you have a PC why get an Xbox? All Xbox games are also on PC. The only fucking difference between the 2 platforms is when the Build Engineer at a gaming studio takes the game files and presses the button to "build" the game for either PC or Xbox. All Xbox and PS3 games are made on PC.

    Sony is just gay about it and exclusively builds some games for PlayStation to promote their platform. Or, the developer was lazy and only wanted to meet Sony's shit launch criteria so they said fuck you Microsoft requirements and ditched Xbox.

    On a side note, I'm told by a friend testing Windows 10 that if you can get the game files saved to your computer from the disc, the app will run it all the same. The app is literally a revamped Xbox One OS baked into an executable. I have no idea why in the fuck they thought it would be a good idea for people to buy an Xbox, insert a disc, then unnecessarily go to your PC to play the game when you could've just bought it for PC and used an Xbox controller that works with any Windows OS by default.
